Hana Macklin is a forward-thinking artist, visionary and arts' educator with spiritual messages that spring from the cosmos and converse with Mother Nature. Formerly known as "Hannah" and having also released music and performed under the monikers MKO, MKO Sun, Bastard Amber and Laik; Hana is primarily a vocalist and pianist, as well as a beat-maker who enjoys playing bass.
Stylistically, Hana's sound is rooted in jazz, soul and R&B. Her love for jazz and soul permeates her songwriting; however, there are also widespread influences from world music evident in her compositional and improvisational style, as well as electro, classical and heavier progressive influences. All in all, Hana uses an eclectic musical palette to "paint" the soundscapes she needs for each song, coupling poetic lyricism with sonic vivacity.
Beginning her original live music career at the age of 20, Hana has performed at a huge number of venues and festivals across Australia and overseas over the last 18 years, including:
